What you need to know

The most useful thing An Extended Look does for anyone mapping this game is settle the scale question. Vice City, Rockstar's Miami, is not the world. It is the anchor inside Leonida, the Florida-shaped state the game actually takes place in, and the footage spends a lot of its runtime outside the city limits.

What that looks like in practice: keys and coastline, wetlands and murky water, small towns, and the alligators that come with all of it. Vice City supplies the neon and the density; Leonida supplies the distance between things. The showcase moves between the two often enough that the transition looks like a deliberate rhythm rather than a loading boundary.

The two people you play remain Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos — Lucia being the first female lead in the series' history. The showcase presents them as a pair rather than as two separate campaigns that occasionally intersect, which is a meaningful difference from how Grand Theft Auto V handled its three protagonists.

Music, as usual, is doing structural work. The soundtrack spans several eras and genres, with Birdman, Def Leppard and Depeche Mode among the artists identified in the presentation.

None of this moved the date. Grand Theft Auto VI releases on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders opened earlier in the year at 79.99 US dollars for the Standard Edition and 99.99 for the Ultimate Edition, with digital pre-loads scheduled to open on 12 November 2026 and a Vintage Vice City Pack bonus attached to purchases made before 20 November 2026.

The PC version is the one open question the showcase did not touch. It has been acknowledged as coming; it has no date, no price, and no published system requirements. Anyone planning around it is still planning around nothing.
